Boler Honduras Project
Entrepreneurial Development in Honduras
During Spring Break, students, professors, and representatives of Hope for Honduran Children teach economics and business skills at Flor Azul Farm, an orphanage.
Entrepreneurial Development in Honduras, a course offered by the Boler School of Business, is one of the most interesting classes business students can take at JCU. During the semester, they study the economy, culture, and history of Honduras with a focus on the extreme poverty experienced by most of the country. During Spring Break, students, professors, and representatives of Hope for Honduran Children visit Flor Azul Farm; an orphanage for boys about two hours away from the capital city of Tegucigalpa. For one week the students teach basic economics and business skills to the older boys in the orphanage. JCU students also instruct the boys how to develop their own business plans. After a few years of coming to Flor Azul, 50% of the older boys in the orphanage now have savings accounts.
